IT Integration Program Manager, Origin Energy
After 17 years in the IT industry I needed a new challenge and enrolled in the MBT on the recommendation of a very good friend and colleague who had completed the degree herself. I thought I'd work hard for a few years and come out of it with a piece of paper that would help me get a promotion but the experience has turned out to be a lot more challenging and rewarding than I ever expected.
The teaching staff are industry experts and business owners with a wealth of experience both in Australia and overseas. I also found that the calibre of students made the discussion in class invaluable and I've learned a lot from my peers. Finally, the practical nature of the assessment tasks enabled me to apply my learning directly at work with positive results. In addition to classes, joining the Toastmasters club helped me to improve my presentation skills (handy for assessments!) and being on the Toastmasters leadership team and the MBT Board for over 2 years gave me valuable experience working in volunteer organisations.
The biggest benefit for me however, is the personal development and growth I've gained not only through the degree but by being a member of the MBT community.
