Jason Umiker, one of our MBT alumni, was a speaker at two of the recent AWS Summits – in Sydney and in Mumbai. In both he spoke to nearly 1000 attendees on what it takes to build modern, secure and scalable architectures based on automation, microservices and containerisation. These architectural patterns, along with some associated organisational structure and cultural changes, can enable services and teams to decouple and to release both faster and more safely – and thereby increase the agility and innovation of their whole organisation.
His Sydney talk was on how to address the security and operational challenges of these modern architectures while his Mumbai talk focused on examples of how AWS’ customers have implemented them at scale and the business value that followed.
Jason commented that his MBT studies helped to prepare him for this by both giving him many opportunities to practice his public speaking as well as an understanding of how to implement the kind of organisational and cultural changes required to successfully move to agile ‘two-pizza’ teams.
